Notes from today

In the beginning of class we talked about dogs and how Mr. Schicks dog was sick but is getting better which led onto everyone talking about their dogs and other dogs. We also saw a picture of Mr. Schicks dogs, he also told us the story of how he got the dog and and it made me very sad because his dog got really hurt and is still messed up to this day and it has been a little over 10 years. And then we went off that subject and started to take notes...

Regions of Culture-

• Culture is the body of customary beliefs, material trait and social forms that together constitute the distinct tradition of a group of people
• Origin of word, culture, is the Latin cultus, which mean "to care for."

Two meanings

1. To care about

Regions of culture-

• Geographers study both definitions of culture
• Culture: what people care about 
• Geographers study why customary ideas, beliefs, and values of a people produce a distinctive culture in a particular place 
• Especially importance cultural values derive a group's language, religion, and ethnicity 
• Culture: what people take care of 
• The second element of culture interest is production of material wealth, such as food, clothing, and shelter that humans need in order to survive and to rise
• Why are different places similar?
• Scale is the relationship between the portion of the earths beings studied and earth as a whole
• Globalization is a force or process that involves the entire world and revolves in making something worldwide in scale
