Population and Settlement part 2

Today in class we talked about life expectancy and how woman live longer than men for reasons like when men get hurt or sick they play it tough and don't worry about it woman do and will go to the doctors and get proper care. Men also have more dangerous jobs than woman and men are more reckless than woman. We also took some notes in class which are.....

Life Expectancy

  • the average number of years to be lives by a group of people born in the same year 
High: Monaco (89.52 total: 85.63 men, 93.58 woman)
United States: (79.68 men, 81.97 woman)
Low: Chad (49.81 men, 51.03 woman)

Potable Water- safe to drink 

Measuring Population-
  • Crude birth rate: number of births per 1000 of the population
  • Crude death rate: number of deaths per 1000 of the population 
  • rate of natural increase (RNI)
  • produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate 
  • this gives us the annual natural growth rate- in percentage form- for a country or region
